I have seen a lot of people writing about their “30 Before 30” and I found this idea very interesting. The idea behind it is to make a list of 30 things you want to do before the age of 30. So, here are 30 thing I want to do or see before I turn 30 in just over ten years. Anything I have done already I will write in green, and everything I have yet to do I will write in red. If I have photos of experiences or activities, I will add them.
- Get a tattoo
I think some part of me has always wanted to get a tattoo. As of now, I have three. The first, of my dog Augustus, was the first one I got, five days after I turned 18. The second was last October, and it is a matching tattoo with my best friend, Olivia. The third one, I got this June.
I am sure I will get more in the future.

2. Do a polar bear plunge
If you don’t know what a polar bear plunge is, it is basically jumping into the freezing cold water of a creek or lake at 6am. I did this at camp when I was younger. Almost everyday, every year that I was a camper.
3. Go to Hawaii
I have always wanted to visit Hawaii. I think the land is beautiful, and I have not even seen any of the islands in person yet.
4. Go surfing (preferably in Hawaii, but, I won’t be too picky)
I have always thought surfing was amazing, and I have heard how hard it is, and I have always wanted to try it, but I think it would be so cool to do it in Hawaii.
5. Dye my hair black or red (or both at different times)
My hair has always been blonde or brunette. I want to try something different.
Editing me: I did this in August of 2021! Updated: 11/20?/2022
6. Move to a new city
This will happen when I transfer to Oregon State next fall, but I am still working on prerequisites now, so I can’t move yet.
Editing me: I have moved to Corvallis: Updated: 11/20/2022
7. Be fluent in a new language
English is my primary language, and I know some Spanish, but I want to be fluent, either in Spanish or Korean.
8. Go to college
I am currently in college now, and I am starting my sophomore year this fall.
9. Finish college
I am working towards this one, but it is going to take a while.
10. Skydive
I have seen skydiving in movies and watched from the ground in real life and I have always thought it would be such an amazing experience.
11. Do a night nature hike
I also did this one at 4-H camp, and it was very fun to hike at night and then go stargazing up on the hill.
12. Travel out the US (Paris or Amsterdam)
I have wanted to go to Paris since I was a little girl and I have wanted to go to Amsterdam ever since I read the Fault in Ours Stars book and watched to movie based on said book when I was 12 and 13 respectively.
13. Pay for someone else’s meal behind me
There is not enough kindness in this world. I wanted to help spread some kindness, and I intend to do that for the rest of my life.
14. Get CPR certified
This may come in handy for me. You can never be too prepared.
15. Be the first person to apologize
I have been wrong before because I am human, and it was and still is important for me to recognize that.
16. Find a best friend
I didn’t find just one. I have found three so far. They are pictured below.

17. Go to a concert
My first concert was Kenny Chesney at five years old. I have gone to many others since then, and they have all been very meaningful.
18. Pull an “all-nighter”
My first “all-nighter” was at a sleepover at 12 years old. I have pulled plenty of other “all-nighters” since then.
19. Stop drinking soda
This one might be a little difficult, but I have heard about the benefits of doing this, so I want to try.
20. Get a job
I started my first job last October.
21. Graduate High School
Done!

22. Try contacts
I first started using contacts freshman year of high school, but the photos below are my senior photos in which I am wearing contacts.

23. Get on a plane
This was taken on my way to National FFA Convention. My friend and former classmate Braydon and I are watching the sun come up during our early morning flight.

24. Go on a boat ride
I have been on the jet boat rides locally and on my family’s boat.
25. Travel alone
I have always wondered what it would be like to travel on my own.
26. Volunteer
Volunteering is such an amazing feeling. It’s so great to know you are making a difference. I have volunteered for The Humane Society, among other organizations.
27. Create a photo wall in my room
It is so nice to look at the wall and see so many of my memories.
28. Bake a cake
Baking is a lot of fun. I think I baked my first cake on my own at about 7 or 8, but started baking while getting help with the oven at 4 years old.
29. Read at least 100 books
I imagine I have read this many already, but I don’t have them all written down and documented, so I do not know. I have read almost 50 books this year so far, so that’s exciting.
Editing me: I’ve definitely read over 100 by now! Updated: 11/20/2022
30. Go on a sunrise hike
It would be amazing to experience a sunrise from a local hiking trail.
I am so grateful that I have experience these things and more, and I can’t wait to experience the ones I have yet to. Tell me something you want to experience before your next “big birthday”! Thank you for reading!
